Hours:  4-5 hours per day Monday through Friday, with potential for additional hours nights and weekends, if available

PRODUCTION & BUILDING SERVICES DIRECTOR 

Des Moines Performing Arts has an excellent opportunity for a Production and Building Services Director, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer. The individual in this role will be responsible for providing direction to the production and building services managerial staff, overseeing all operations of both departments. Vendor relations, contract management, and purchasing as well as policy / procedure development and implementation are additional elements of the position. The Director will also be accountable for developing and monitoring the departments’ budgets and goals.

Qualified candidates should have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of seven years’ related experience
  • Experience working in live performance production environment
  • Knowledge of theater industry and production equipment
  • Strong understanding of (and interest and passion for) diverse art forms within the performing arts field, including theater/musical theater, dance, music, and work for young audiences
  • Strong leadership and management skills including the ability to foster a collaborative team environment
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Experience developing and monitoring budgets
  • Negotiation skills
  • Strong project and time management skills
  • Demonstrates motivation and self-initiative
  • Analytical and financial skills
  • Knowledge of building service equipment requirements
  • Some knowledge of building and grounds operations is preferred

TICKET OFFICE MANAGER 

Des Moines Performing Arts has an excellent opportunity for a Ticket Office Manager. The primary responsibilities for this role include ensuring a smooth ticket transactions process, which includes but is not limited to: setting up events and series in the ticket system, providing supervision and leadership to the team, coordinating with ticket office management supervisor, coverage during business hours and events, helping to resolve seating issues, and ensuring the accurate processing of ticket requests. This position reports to the Ticket Office Director.

Qualified candidates should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum 3 years’ experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience working in live performing arts industry;  experience in general entertainment industry will also be considered
  • Experience working with ticketing systems
  • Supervisory / Leadership skills including the ability to participate in and foster a collaborative team environment
  • Outstanding communication skills – written and verbal
  • Exceptional customer service and sales skills
  • Strong time management, organization, and planning skills with outstanding ability to meet deadlines
  • Detail-oriented
  • High level of self-initiative
  • Training / Presentation Skills
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and Word
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends
