Des Moines Performing Arts is currently seeking qualified candidates for a variety of part-time positions in our guest services department.  All positions are responsible for ensuring each patron has an exceptional experience while attending our venues.   

Positions include admissions, bartenders, ushers, hospitality supervisors, and more.  This is a great opportunity for those interested in part-time work in a great environment and want to work alongside others who enjoy the excitment of the performing arts.  Most hours are evenings and weekends.

Qualified candidates should have:

  • Previous experience in customer service
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Demonstrated outstanding customer service skills
  • Computer skills
  • Outstanding organization skills
  • Able to effectively multitask
  • Excellent problem solving skills with the ability to quickly make sound decisions
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
  • Weekend, holiday and evening availability required
  • Some positions require knowledge of food service safety guidelines and basic accounting skills that include experience with handling cash

Development Manager - Major Gifts and Annual Fund

Des Moines Performing Arts is seeking a Development Manager to oversee major gifts and annual fund.  The manager of major gifts and annual fund will split their time between developing and furthering a major gifts strategy through solicitations via a variety of creative methods and overseeing the management and growth of the annual fund.

Qualified candidates will be able to manage a portfolio of 60-75 major gift donors (current and lapsed) and new prospects as well as identify, cultivate and solicit gifts from 25-40 top-level prospects annually.  He/she will collaborate with the Director of Development to qualify and cultivate major gifts prospects and monitor progress toward the annual and multi-year major gift goals.  In addition to performing data analysis, the manager will leverage a creative and comprehensive approach to multi-year planning and strategy development.  The selected candidate will have experience in direct-mail, email, and online giving strategies and be familiar with audience segmentation, timing and messaging of annual fund appeals.

The ideal applicant will have a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred), 5-7 years of experience in development and have demonstrated success in identifying and personally securing individual support of major gifts of six to seven figures or more.  CFRE or similar credentials are preferred.  This individual will have exceptional planning and budgetary management skills and a strong knowledge of modern data management practices in addition to technical aptitude.
