Des Moines Performing Arts has a current opportunity for a part-time bartender. We are seeking individuals who are able to mix, pour, serve and sell beverages while demonstrating exemplary customer service to all guests attending Des Moines Performing Arts events.   Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to: checking ID’s, handling cash, operating point of sale equipment, selling concession items, moving and stocking product. This position is event based requiring weekend, evening and holiday work.  Hours will fluctuate based on staffing needs per event. Candidates must be at least 18 years old to apply.

 

Qualified candidates should have:

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred 
  • Experience with bartending, cash handling and customer service highly preferred 
  • Outstanding customer service and communication skills
  • A professional demeanor
  • A Tuxedo Uniform (not provided)
  • Computer/internet access
  • Reliable transportation
  • The ability to stand for long periods of time, climb stairs and lift/carry up to 50 lbs.

We are seeking individuals who have experience in providing exemplary customer service skills with a demonstrable willingness to help others.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to: providing courteous service to guests attending events, preparing and distributing programs, welcoming and assisting guests with any needs or questions that may arise, monitoring for and resolving safety issues while striving to create a memorable experience for guests.  This position is event based requiring weekend, evening and holiday work.  Hours will fluctuate based on staffing needs per event. We are seeking someone who is able to effectively lead the ticket office team while fostering a highly focused customer service environment.   This position oversees all facets of the ticket office with responsibility for the development of retention and growth strategies, systems, policies, procedures and department training programs. 

 

Qualified candidates should have:

 

  • A bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 6 years’ related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A minimum 3 years’ supervisory experience
  • Experience working in a ticket office
  • Experience working with and understanding of Ticketmaster system preferred
  • Outstanding leadership and management capabilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional customer service and sales skills
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • An orientation for detail
  • A good computer aptitude
  • The ability to develop and foster a team environment
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
  • The ability to effectively meet deadlines
  • The ability to think creatively and develop innovative ideas and approaches
  • Experience working in a performing arts center highly preferred
