Garth Fagan: Student Master Class

« Return to the Classes And Workshops Event List

Garth Fagan's ever-evolving dance language draws on many sources: sense of weight in modern dance, torso-centered movement and energy of Afro-Caribbean dance, speed and precision of ballet, and the rule-breaking experimentation of the post-moderns.

In this master class led by members of Garth Fagan Dance, dancers will learn basic technique and style of the company.

Recommended for advanced/intermediate dancers ages 12 and up. Please note that a strong understanding of dance vocabulary and technique is needed to successfully participate in the class.

Fee: $25 // $15 with performance ticket to Garth Fagan Dance

Location: DanzArts

Registration: Opens January 3, 2013.

ABOUT DANCE SERIES MASTER CLASSES

As part of the The Dance Series, each company will offer master classes for dancers in the community. This unique artist-to-artist opportunity connects preeminent dancers in the field with those in the Des Moines community.

Designed to best serve the varying levels of dancers, there are two levels of master classes offered. Dance students at an intermediate/advanced level will learn basic technique and style of each company. Dancers at the professional and pre-professional level will take a more in-depth exploration of the company’s technique.
