 Purchase Policies

The Civic Center of Greater Des Moines strongly reminds theatergoers and gift givers purchase tickets only through the Civic Center and Ticketmaster.

When purchasing tickets to any Civic Center event, customers should be advised to use only the following options to guarantee valid tickets and seating:

Civic Center Members can purchase tickets by calling (515) 246-2300 or through a members-only link.

Neither the Civic Center nor Ticketmaster can guarantee the authenticity of tickets purchased from any other reseller (such as brokers or individuals).

Currently there are some scalpers, also known as "second party vendors," selling tickets online at a rate more than double the standard price. Tickets bought through these means may not be valid and you would be refused admission.

The Civic Center urges customers to purchase tickets directly from the Civic Center Ticket Office or through the following authorized Ticketmaster locations: Ticketmaster.com, Ticketmaster Charge-by-Phone (800) 745-3000, and Ticketmaster Outlets.

Please note: Generally, only children age 5 and older with tickets will be allowed into the theater. For select children's/family shows, children younger than 5 with tickets will be allowed into the theater, yet all patrons, regardless of age, must purchase a ticket to be permitted into the theater.

You may sell your tickets for any amount from $1.00 per ticket up to 100% of your original purchase price per ticket.

If a ticket is sold, you will receive 100% of the ticket's "Posting Price," an amount you set, subject to a minimum and maximum set by the Civic Center. The tickets will then be listed for sale for 125% of the Posting Price. If the tickets are purchased, the buyer will pay that amount plus an authentication and ticketFast® fee.

If your ticket is sold, you will receive 100% of the purchase price in the form of Civic Center gift certificates. The Civic Center will mail them to you within 10 business days. Please contact us for more information.

Certain events and locations within an event may not be available for you to sell your tickets for various reasons which may include, but are not limited to

  • Date of the event has passed or is too close to post (posting cutoff four hours prior to the event),
  • The event (or seats) are not barcoded by the venue management,
  • Tickets have not been paid in full,
