The Holidays at DMPA
Des Moines Performing Arts is here to bring you some positivity and fun this holiday season! There are so many great shows coming up, and we know they will get you in the holiday spirit. We have something for everyone this season, ranging from concerts, or, dancing, to Broadway. Enjoy some time with family and friends this holiday while witnessing an exhilarating performance.
First up, we have Irish Christmas in America...
This show will be held at the Temple Theater on December 7 and 8 at 7:30 PM. This popular holiday show brings it all! There is music, song, dance, and stories of seasonal Irish traditions. The whole family will enjoy the unique instruments and Irish dancing this performance has to offer!
Next up is Iowa Dance Theatre: The Nutcracker...
This show comes to the Des Moines Civic Center on December 8 and 9. Join us through the classic story of the Nutcracker and adventure with Clara as she travels to a distant land. This beautiful ballet is sure to captivate all audiences.
We also have Iowa Stage Theatre Company: A Christmas Carol 2023...
Join us in the Stoner Theater from December 8 to December 17 for this timeless tale. Follow Ebenezer Scrooge and the spirits of Christmas past, present, and future told by Iowa Stage Theatre Company. This show will be enjoyable for the entire family and is sure to spark the holiday spirit within you.
And for some Broadway we introduce The Wiz...
The Wiz graces Des Moines from December 12 to December 17. This may not be a holiday-themed show, but it will definitely make your season brighter! This show combines a twist on The Wizard of Oz and Dorothy’s story with great soul, gospel, and rock music. Ease on down the road for a wonderful performance that will leave you wanting more!
For some more holiday fun we present Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Musical...
You know and love the story, so watch it come to life at the Des Moines Civic Center! This fun, family-friendly show is in town on December 21 only, so secure your seats today! There is much to learn from Rudolph’s adventure, and you don’t want to miss this heart-warming holiday tradition.
Lastly, we have Cirque Dreams Holidaze...
In Des Moines on December 22 and 23 is Cirque Dreams Holidaze! This show includes a Broadway-style production with an infusion of contemporary circus arts, and is sure to entertain ALL. You will hear some enticing original music, as well as twists on traditional season favorites. This is the perfect way to end your holiday season and to decompress with a joyful performance!
