Cowles Commons Events
9/20/2017 Wellness Wednesdays 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM

Practice self-care every Wednesday at noon with free wellness activites on Cowles Commons including yoga, dance and meditation to engergize you mid-week!

About this week’s Wellness Wednesday community partner:
At POP UP YOGA DSM, we believe yoga should be accessible and enjoyable so that everyone in our community can reap the benefits of a personal practice. We also believe in the power of community; we know strong connections build powerful, supportive friendships, and exploring one's community leads to sustainable, urban growth. That's why we offer free yoga classes to the Des Moines community in a variety of unique spaces -- parks, farmer's markets, rooftops, galleries, music festivals, warehouses and businesses.  Our classes welcome all levels of students, whether you are brand new to yoga or a seasoned practitioner. These classes are 100% free to attend, but some specialty "pop-ups" may be donation based to help support our cause or a local charity. We aim to provide more opportunities for you to prioritize your health and wellness, as well as introduce you to different styles of yoga-- and maybe help you make a friend or two. Above all, we hope that participating in POP UP YOGA DSM encourages you to begin or cultivate a personal yoga practice at a studio right here in Des Moines.

Join us for a 45 minute vinyasa class (beginner - intermediate level) facilitated by Molly Ellsworth. Molly Ellsworth is a 200hr registered yoga teacher and completed her certification through Power Life Yoga in 2016. She currently teaches at Aspen Athletic and Power Life Yoga. Molly loves teaching yoga to others to help them become more in tune with their mind and body. During the day Molly is a commercial interior designer. You'll find her checking out new restaurants or recipes, enjoying a cup of coffee, and taking yoga classes during her free time.

Please bring a yoga mat, water, towel and a friend to join!

RunDSM

Hear works from outstanding student poets and create your own poetry with a fun “From Page to Stage” activity with facilitator Emily Lang. This activity features one of Run DSM’s outstanding programs, Movement 515, which is an urban arts community where, twice a week, students and mentors come together to create spoken word poetry and street art.  Attempting to slow down the world and investigate themselves, they work toward becoming change agents, shedding light on the impact human emotion and connection brings to the global community.
