Des Moines Performing Arts seeks a part-time Guest Services Associate for event set up, basic inventory functions including receiving, stocking and product rotation, and providing assistance to the guest service department as needed including equipment maintenance and cleaning of equipment and utensils.

Qualified candidates should have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.  Experience with customer service a plus. Experience with Microsoft Suite a plus.
  • Responsible for setting up for events including verifying table placement to map, linens and beverage set up.
  • Responsible for receiving deliveries, stocking products and product rotation.
  • Responsible for cleaning equipment used for beverage set up including scheduled cleaning of ice machines, coffee services, equipment, utensils, etc. 
  • Responsible for ensuring the staff refrigerators in the building are stocked.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Des Moines Performing Arts is seeking a program coordinator to work with the creation and implementation of curriculum within our education programs.  This position leads the development of curriculum resources and content for Des Moines Performing Arts school-based initiatives.

With the guiding principal that participation in the arts fosters creativity and other important life skills, this role is responsible for supporting curriculum guide development around Applause Series performances, facilitating the design and implementation of in-school residency activities, and coordinating arts-based professional development for educators. 

Essential duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage creation of quality study guide materials for each production appearing on the Applause Series; gather assets and materials; write and layout of guides; serve as project manager with freelance writers and designers when applicable
  • Plan and implement in-school workshop and residency activities; facilitate collaboration between teaching artists and educators to ensure successful and meaningful experiences for students; manage scheduling, materials and other logistical needs; monitor residency activities and provide feedback to teaching artists on a regular basis, with formal coaching as needed
  • Coordinate arts-based professional development offerings for teachers, supporting the needs of instructors and participants. 

This position is an on-going part-time position that should average approximately 20 hours a week.

Qualified candidates should have a bachelors degree with a minimum of two years of experience in education, lesson development, or equivalent combination of education and experience; previous work with educatiors, students and administrators in a school setting strongly preferred; knowledge of and experience with the performing arts, including dance and theater, desired.

Des Moines Performing Arts is seeking a customer focused, self-motivated, detail oriented and highly organized professional to play a leading role as a Part Time Ticketing Services Representative in our Ticket Office.  The ideal candidate for this position will have a natural passion for the performing arts and top notch customer service skills. 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

The Part Time Ticketing Services Representative's primary responsibility is to support ticket office operations by assisting guests with ticket purchases, processing orders and other requests while upholding the integrity of Des Moines Performing Arts’ Quality Standards.

  • Transactional/Administrative: Process ticket sales accurately, i.e. price tickets appropriately (donor price code, etc.) and process exchanges properly. Utilize resources such as process documentation when needed. Complete accurate balance out sheet at end of shift.
  • Guest Experience: Create positive, consistent guest experience by interacting in polite, professional and friendly manner. Exhibit ‘guest first’ attitude.
  • Nights and weekend availability is a must.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Must be available nights, weekends, and occasional holidays.
  • Retail/Service experience preferred and ability to demonstrate strong guest-focused engagement
  • Proactive thinking and ability to effectively complete projects
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to receive feedback and take action when appropriate
  • Minimum education level is High School graduate or equivalent
  • Job may require lifting boxes that weigh up to 40lbs
  • Must maintain a professional appearance

Database Analyst Manager - Ticketing

Des Moines Performing Arts is seeking a Database Analysis Manager to maintain operations of the ticketing platform and maximum system usage for all Des Moines Performing Arts (DMPA) departments. 

This position is responsible for exploring and making recommendations for technological innovations based on data analysis.  This individual will provide technical leadership through ticket sales analysis to enhance business practices across all departments.  He/she will facilitate system upgrades and maintenance as well as oversee organization and storage of all database information.  Additionally, the Database Analysis Manager will build assigned events and series in the ticketing systems, proof event/series and promotion builds for quality control, provide sales data, analysis, and database information and identify areas for improvement within policies and procedures. This position will occasionally coordinate with ticket office management team to provide leadership during events, including nights, weekends and holidays.  He/she will synchronize with guest services and production to resolve all seating issues, communicate with company management to provide requested sales data, ensure accurate processing of ticket requests, and facilitate event settlement. 

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of three years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience; experience working in data analysis and ability to code in SQL; and exceptional MS Excel aptitude are all required.  Supervisory experience and experience working with ticketing systems is a plus.  Additionally, experience working in performing arts and non-profit organizations is highly preferred.
