Hello Adjudicators! Welcome to the 2024-2025 Adjudicator Library. This page is intended to be a resource for anything IHSMTA adjudication, such as training, continued learning resources, reference materials, scheduling and more.

Mileage reimbursement will be calculated at the end of each adjudication cycle (December, April and May).

TIPS & TRICKS: ADJUDICATING EXCELLENT SHOWS

Every show has its successes and areas for growth. It can sometimes feel easier to support the growth of a developing student-base, but can prove much more difficult to adjudicate a production that excels. This training module is designed to help adjudicators support the growth of high-level artists.

DEEP DIVE: LIGHTING DESIGN

As adjudicators, you are asked to view a wide variety of areas in the theatrical production. This deep dive is an overview of the lighting design category of adjudication. This deep dive will discuss the IHSMTA rubric for lighting design, some terminology to evaluate and discuss lighting, tips and tricks for notetaking on lighting, and examples with optional practice.

DEEP DIVE: PRODUCTION-WIDE AWARDS

As part of the adjudication process, schools each receive one of four production-wide awards:

  • Distinguished Scene 
  • Outstanding Overall Performance
  • Outstanding Overall Technical & Creative Achievement
  • Outstanding Musical Production 

This module discusses how these awards are determined and their individual criteria.

As adjudicators, you are asked to view a wide variety of areas in the theatrical production. This deep dive is an overview of the choreography category of adjudication. This deep dive will discuss the IHSMTA rubric for choreography, some terminology to evaluate and discuss choreography, tips and tricks for note-taking on choreography, and examples with optional practice.
