For more than five decades, Ballet Hispánico New York has celebrated the depth, beauty, and brilliance of Latino cultures through dance. Recognized as the nation’s leading American Latino dance company and the largest cultural institution of its kind in the United States, the company brings bold repertory, exceptional artistry, and a powerful cultural legacy to the stage.
Founded in 1970 by Tina Ramirez, Ballet Hispánico New York was created to uplift Latino stories and expand what American dance could look like. Today, the company continues that vision with more than 100 commissioned original works, performances on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, and education and community programs that have inspired generations.
Under the leadership of Artistic Director & CEO Eduardo Vilaro, a former Ballet Hispánico dancer and acclaimed choreographer, the company has entered a dynamic new era. Vilaro has broadened the company’s repertory, deepened its distinctive movement language, and continued to honor the traditions that shaped Ballet Hispánico New York while pushing the art form forward.
Known for performances that are vibrant, expressive, and technically stunning, Ballet Hispánico New York blends classical and contemporary movement with stories rooted in culture, identity, and connection. Critics have praised the company’s “fiery elegance, technical brilliance, and generous expressivity,” as well as its versatility, richness, and unforgettable stage presence.
