At Des Moines Performing Arts (DMPA), we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to experience the joy, connection, and inspiration that live performance can bring. As part of our mission to engage and inspire our community through the performing arts, we are committed to creating welcoming and accessible experiences for all guests.

Whether you're attending a Broadway performance, educational program, family event, or special presentation, DMPA offers a variety of accessibility resources designed to help every attendee feel comfortable, connected, and immersed in the experience.

Guests who are deaf or hard of hearing can take advantage of assistive listening technology, American Sign Language (ASL)- interpreted performances, and on-demand closed captioning through the free GalaPro app for select shows. New: Donor support has helped DMPA update the hearing aid integration technology in the Civic Center. Auracast, a Bluetooth technology that connects wirelessly and directly with hearing aids, replaces aging t-coil technology.

For patrons who are blind or have low vision, DMPA offers live audio description for select performances, providing real-time narration of onstage action, as well as Braille programs for all Willis Broadway Series productions.

DMPA also works to create welcoming environments for guests with sensory sensitivities through sensory-friendly performances in the Wellmark Family Series. These performances feature adjustments to lighting and sound, flexible seating options, and spaces that encourage movement and breaks as needed.

For guests with mobility needs, accessible seating, elevator access, and complimentary wheelchair escort service help make navigating our venues easier and more comfortable.

These accessibility services are available at no additional cost, reflecting DMPA's commitment to ensuring the performing arts remain accessible to everyone.
