Mama Said String Band: Prairie Meadows Live at the Temple Concert Series
June 25, 2026Mama Said String Band
Rooted in bluegrass and built with fresh, genre-bending spirit, Mama Said String Band brings its grassroots sound to the Temple Theater.
Based in Louisville, Kentucky, the four-piece band has been making waves in the bluegrass scene and beyond since its debut in 2016. With influences spanning bluegrass, folk, classical, jazz and Americana, Mama Said String Band creates music that feels both timeless and completely their own — rich with vocal harmonies, contemporary instrumentation and honest lyricism.
The band features Katie “Didit” Caudill on double bass and vocals, David O’Neal on strings and vocals, Kaitlen Farmer on guitar and vocals, and Kris Potts on mandolin. Each member brings a distinct musical background to the group, shaping a sound that is warm, textured and full of character. Together, they blend intricate musicianship with songs that feel lived-in, heartfelt and deeply connected to the storytelling traditions of American roots music.
Mama Said String Band has earned recognition across Kentucky and the Eastern U.S., including honors such as “Album of the Year,” “Best Bluegrass Band” and “Bluegrass Artist of the Year.” As they continue to tour nationwide and appear at prominent music festivals, the band is building a growing fan base with performances that are spirited, sincere and full of energy.
Their music carries the feel of a late-night campfire, a front porch gathering and a modern string band all at once — grounded in tradition, but never stuck in the past.
