Two Des Moines Performing Arts-Invested Shows Take Home Tony Awards

At the 78th Annual Tony Awards this week, two DMPA-invested productions, Buena Vista Social Club and Operation Mincemeat: A New Musical, received Tony Awards.

Buena Vista Social Club – nominated for 10 Tony Awards – took top honors in the categories of:

  • Best Featured Actress in a Musical (Natalie Venetia Belon)
  • Best Choreography (Justin Peck and Patricia Delgado)
  • Best Orchestrations (Marco Paguia)
  • Best Sound Design of a Musical (Jonathan Deans)

Operation Mincemeat: A New Musical also celebrated a win, with Jak Malone taking home the award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical.

DMPA’s investments are in partnership with the Independent Presenters Network (IPN), a consortium of 40 leading Broadway presenters, theaters and performing arts centers.
